Jeans to Flatter a Short Waisted Figure
I am just under 5'5". I am thin and small/narrow frame. I am short-waisted w/ long legs. What style of jeans are best for my type of figure? Should I go with stretched jeans? Please give me any ideas you might have when shopping for the most flattering styles.
It sounds like you and I have similar figures, except that you're a little taller than I am--so I can definitely help you! The big thing in finding flattering jeans for a short-waisted figure is making your waist look longer. Therefore, jeans that are cut to sit lower on the waist or even high on the hip will be very flattering to you, since they'll make your waist and legs look more proportionate. You might also experiment with boot cut jeans, since the flare at the bottom not only draws the eye down, but enables you to wear a stronger, chunkier heel with your jeans (if you like to wear heels). The most flattering fits I've personally found are the Gap Original Fit jeans (annoyingly, however, they've stopped making them). I am also a fan of the skinny straight leg cut and the stretch boot cut of theirs.
I hope that helps! Let me know what you find.
I am thinking of getting the Gap lowrise stretch boot cut jeans. Should I go with the ankle length or the regular length? I will be wearing either boots or open toe chunky heels with them. Will an ankle length make me look short? Which length is more flattering? Thank you for your fashion advice.
Based on the shoes you've described, I would recommend the longer length. These shoes are very strong and are going to need some fabric to balance the look. Overall, I prefer the regular length to the ankle length, unless I'm wearing plain white tennis shoes. I like to wear heeled sandals with my jeans, and I've found the longer length works better with heels, and the shorter works better with flats. If you're going to be wearing both kinds of shoes, I'd buy both lengths. Let me know how that works for you! Have a great weekend!
