Dressing Thin Legs
What type of pants should I wear with thin legs. I've heard that flared bottoms are good, but the thighs never seem to fit tightly enough to warrant a flare, so they seem to just look baggy! Also, to make it more complicated I seen to have a long waist so when I try smaller sizes to fit my legs they crawl, very uncomfortably up my crotch. Also, what skirt lengths and cuts would flatter? Thanks for any advice.
Instead of a dramatically flared pant, try a more subtle boot cut--especially ones that have a little cut in the ankle for added drape (Banana Republic has some cute ones). Also try wide-legged pants, which are popular right now, and any loose-fitting, elastic waisted style--especially those that have a little extra fabric at the bottom (these look great with heels). Full-cut or wide-legged pants will also flatter your longer waist. If you have a TJ Maxx in your area, take a look at what they have right now--they have some great wide-legged pants that might fit the bill. Another solution is to wear yoga or athletic pants, many of which are now done in fabric that's dressy enough to wear every day, and which will not only fit in the legs, but provide the aforementioned flare for balance, and have an elastic or drawstring waist that helps keep them from riding up.
For skirts, short skirts will show off your thin legs in a flattering way. If you feel your legs are too thin for you to be comfortable with this look, try a long skirt with a slit, or one that has buttons up the front. There are also a lot of asymmetrical skirts out right now that will draw attention away from the thinness of your legs.
For shoes, you're one of the lucky, lucky women who can wear ankle straps without looking like you have piano legs, so take advantage of this season's beautiful ankle strap heels and flats to balance your proportions.
I hope that helps!
