Can you really wear suede and leather clothing in warmer weather, as designers like to show us from time to time? (And more importantly--would you really want to tool around in your leather pants in August?!

Yes and no. The rules are a little different, but you can wear suede and leather in the warmer months. Shorter styles, like skirts, look better in the summer than heavier, more serious items like pants. Also, the color has a lot to do with whether your skirt will look right--a deep forest green suede will look like fall, no matter what. But pink, red, or other warm colors will look more appropriate.

An example of a cute summer outfit would be a bright or pale suede skirt, especially one with scalloping, cutouts, or other feminine details, a tank top, and thong sandals.

For the office (assuming your boss wouldn't drop dead of a heart attack if you wore a leather skirt to the office at any time of year), you could wear a leather skirt (even black) with a collared shirt and strappy heeled sandals.

No matter how much you love that leather skirt in May, it's probably not going to look as appealing to you in the late days of July and August, when it's just too hot to want to wear more than a swimsuit.
