Dressing for work should be simpler than ever, with relaxed dress codes implemented at companies all over the US. In fact, it's more unusual to find a company that hasn't implemented business casual as the dress code--at least on Fridays.

In theory, this makes getting dressed for work a lot simpler. Research shows that women do spend less time getting dressed for work when the dress code is casual or business casual...but men actually spend more time figuring out what to wear.

It's important to remember that a business casual dress code, or even a casual dress code, doesn't mean no dress code at all. There are still rules and guidelines to follow, depending on your location, your industry, and your individual company.

What's worse, these rules aren't always stated, so you may have to do a little detective work to figure out what works and what doesn't. This section is designed to help you navigate these sometimes tricky waters.
