Do you have suggestions for removing the stench of cat urine from wool? The dry cleaners claim it cannot be done.

Yikes--that is a tough one. The dry cleaner is probably right, but there are a couple of things you can try--the odor removal spray Febreze is pretty good for most things, but may not be potent enough for this. If you can get the fabric wet (test a small, inconspicuous place first), there's a product called Bac-Out which eliminates many odors as well as organic stains. You can usually find it in health food stores. Finally, pet stores offer some pet odor removal products. These are mostly for carpet and furniture, but it's possible one could be mild enough for your wool item.

Finally, once the actual uriine is removed via dry cleaning or other method, the smell will fade over time--it takes awhile, but it does fade. Good luck!
