I am attending my ten year reunion in April and I don't want to be over dressed or too casual. I am thinking of wearing black pants in maybe a flowing sort of fabric, any suggestions? Should I wear a dress? If I wear pants, what type of shirt should I wear? I am 5'3 and size 6, so I usually wear heels. I want to make a good impression--help!

If you want to be dressy but not overly dressed, I really like your idea of
flowing black pants and a dressy shirt, with the ubiquitous heels, of
course! For the shirt, I would consider a shirt-cut top in satiny silk, in
a rich color that flatters your skin tone. (Banana Republic has some great
ones right now--I just got one in a soft gold that I can't wait to wear, and
might wear to my own 20th reunion this summer). Also, ruffly, feminine
shirts are really big right now. I would wear one with a choker
necklace--maybe one in black suede with a bold silver or gold charm, and
some simple earrings.

If you opt for a dress, I would go for a simple shift, either in black or
another dark neutral like navy or brown. Go barelegged, and if you don't
tan (like I don't), then put self-tanner on your legs a couple of days
beforehand, and again, wear heels--some strappy ones for this look! If
you're new to self-tanner, start practicing now, or have a salon apply it
for you the day before the event.

To really shine, go in with your biggest smile and all of your
confidence--that's what people are really going to remember. It's a great
party-have a wonderful time and be dazzling!
