I have never been to an American wedding. I have been invited to an evening church wedding in Houston, Texas. Will this dress be appropriate? its a lot brighter than it looks..fabric is chiffon. What accessories can I wear?

There are really only two rules for dressing for a wedding--the first is to be festive and dressed for celebration. The second, and more important rule, is not to wear anything that would detract from the bride--this is her moment to be in the spotlight, and so your objective should be to look wonderful yourself but not outshine her.

I'm not sure from the picture how much brighter the dress in the picture might be, but if it truly is a lot brighter, the combination of bright, very dressy fabric, the full length, and the spaghetti strap cut might put the look over the top. Again, use your best judgment, and if you feel right, and appropriate in it, then go for it.

If you do opt for the dress, keep your accessories simple--the cut of the dress is almost accessory enough. I would stick with small but dressy earrings and either a ring or a simple bracelet. Anything else would detract from the dress. Your shoes should be delicate, feminine, heeled and strappy, to match the dress's delicate straps. Carry a small, simple evening bag (the smaller the bag, the dressier it is) and you should be
set.

Good luck, and have a great time at the wedding!

Regards,
Kat
