What to Wear to a Southern Winter Wedding |

I am attending a wedding in Clemson, South Carolina with my boyfriend who is one of the Groomsmen in the wedding. I am concerned about the dress that I bought, may be too dressy or not dressy enough, too flashy... I don't know. I am 5'1 108 lbs and short/chin length blonde hair. I purchased a dress from Express yesterday. It is double layer chiffon--the under layer is tan and the top layer is black. At the bottom of the dress, it hits right below my calf, there are jagged/ruffle like material layering the bottom portion of the dress. The top is spaghetti strapped (thin straps) and has a scoop loose neck in the front. I bought some silver/rhinestone earrings with a matching necklace, not too fancy just a little sparkle from the rhinestone. My shoes are diagonal strappy black heels with a skinny stiletto heel. I also don't know what type of hose to wear if any. I don't quite know if this is too dressy for a wedding in South Carolina, winter, night wedding. I am 20 and really just want to be reassured that I am dressing appropriately for the occasion. My boyfriend is wearing a Tuxedo for the wedding party. Anything that you can suggest would be of some help. Thanks for all of your help. Your dress and your entire outfit sound not only appropriate for a winter wedding (especially an evening one) but utterly stunning. The only rules that really exist for weddings today are to dress to celebrate the occasion, and to dress so that you don't compete with the bride (i.e., don't wear white). As for what to wear on your legs, you would be fine with either black hose (the sheerer the hose, the dressier it is) or, if you prefer, bare legs (especially if your shoes are open-toed or strappy, as yours are). Sounds like you and your boyfriend will be a stunning pair at the wedding. Best of luck to you--and enjoy the occasion!!! Best Regards,
