Adventures in Shopping: The Hunt for the Perfect Black Cardigan

  • It was time. I had been wearing my favorite black wool cardigan for over a decade now, and its formerly graceful drape was now more a memory than reality. I had replaced the buttons, shaved and re-shaved, blocked and steamed, but my sweater was ready for the comfort clothes pile. It was time to find a successor.

    I'm an inveterate bargain hunter, and have always looked at shopping as a treasure hunt, most successful when entered into with an open mind and a willingness to experiment.

  • Searching for a specific item is more like...well...work. But, credit card in hand and comfortable shoes on feet (realize that for me this means heels!), I set out to find a replacement for my long-loved sweater.
